Our Home Physio Approach for Senior Pre & Post Op Patients
Pre-operative health status is the #1 predictor of post-operative recovery. Range of motion, strength, and function must be maximized before surgery.
Total Hip Replacement: Statistically the most common approach is posterior-lateral by surgeons, resulting in 3 specific movement contraindications. We are well versed in these protocols and have the knowledge to maximize your recovery within post-op guidelines.
Total Knee Replacement: Physiotherapy should be started immediately to ensure knee range of motion can return before scar tissue forms, and teach crutch techniques to maximize independence.
Spinal Surgeries, Rotator Cuff, and Shoulder Replacement protocols have greater variance so we won't be listing major components of each protocol. However, we have treated many and are confident we have the skills & experience to get you maximize your post-op potential.
Regardless of the type of surgery, the risk of blood clots (and DVT) along with pneumonia are typically 3-6x more likely. Early activity is absolutely essential to prevent complications. We're ready to help optimize your recovery today.
